    click the photos icon
    click the first picture
theres an icon at the bottom that when pressed it allows you to delete ir, or wallpaper it.

When you sync with your computer you should be able to access the hard drive directly through windows explorer (or Mac equivalent) the same way you would a USB flash drive.

Once you sync with your computer you can't use the device with another. The only way you can borrow your friends music is to get it converted to MP3 (or similar) and then transfer the music to your own computer HDD or portable HDD. Once you have doen this you can then upload to your own device using iTunes
