Visa for Argentina

Not sure if there is a way around this but just thought id post and see if anyone had a suggestion.

Basically i'm looking to get a working holiday visa for Argentina which you can get for 6 months and renewed for another 3 months after that apparently. Thats all fine. The problem is i wont be in Argentina until late December but am starting my traveling in mid July.

The woman in the embassy said if i get one now i have to be in Argentina within 3 months which of course i wont be. I was wondering could i just get one now, tell them i'll be there in October, then have it for 6 months then renew it for a further 3 months when i'm over there? Does it really matter that i wont be using it until December?

Or does anyone know a way around this like getting one over there so i have one for a full 9 months when i'm there?

    Cheers.

hey I have one of those.

they write the date that they give it to you and it states that the visa is valid for use for 3 months after that.
then when we entered the guy stamped it and wrote 6 months below it. Anyway I had an accident so i never got it renewed again. only convinced  a border official to give me tourist visa because i'm leaving soon. (I tried my best to stay legal but the accident ment i couldn't leave the house and migracones is in the most awkward place)

For us it was a whole mess but the good news is that Argentinian officials really don't care a whole lot. if you have money to pay a fine they won't hassle you if you don't follow the rules to the letter.

Not sure if you can get that particular visa while here but getting the other working visas here are an absolute nightmare!! It can take anywhere from 6 months to a year or more!

Have you got a job arranged or anything?

Working en negro here is very popular even with Argentinians themselves. But that all depends on what kind of work you will be doing. And then the risk that some day they will change their mind and the consequences will be dire!
