So is this what I need?

I thought when the garage said they'd install ipod connection it would include a lead. Obviously they just put in the socket in glove compt. as it must not have been part of original spec. Any help appreciated.

How much did the installation cost roughly or do you even have the cost of the hardware that they used ex labour?
I've a Focus 08 but no aux-in or ipod usb connection but am considering retro fitting it myself using the official parts. The fm transmitter im using currently is grand but on longer journeys has to be retuned a fair bit

anyhow, presuming you only got the aux-in 3.5mm headphone socket (and not somehow a fancy pants usb module), thats the type of cable you need.

Not sure if its the same system but I installed the AUX module I got from e-bay on my 2000 Focus (6000 CD):

Works as the CD changer input on the stereo.

The connection in the glove box was the hard part, I did it myself and it involves competely removing the radio and disassembling half the dash, it's a huge pain in the hole and I saved a fortune by sacrificing half a sunday to do it myself.
That Maplin jobbie looks the part, 3.5mm jack on either end, plugs into iPod on one end and socket in glove box on the oter, select AUX on radio and away you go.
And, no, Ford only install the socket, they don't supply any other part since it's 3rd party.

Thanks for replies... no idea what cost of hard wear or labour was, it was part of the last minute bargaining at end of sale; full tank, new gas for a/c, plus (now i realise a too vaguely worded) ipod connection etc... so the socket is at the very back of the glove box but does not look like a USB connection. I'm guessing this 3.5mm lead is what I need. I'll buzz the garage anyway and ask as I've to pick up a spare set of keys. Thx.

PS Cross posting just saw yours above there Dr Fuzz thanks!

Totally different, the 00 car would have had a radio that did not have an AUX input and therefore would have worked through the CD changer interface.
The 06 radio has AUX capabilites, but in thei wisdom Ford has decided not to include the actual connection, bit strange but easily fixable compared to the old radio.
