    Hi all,
Started running in April. Did the full 9 weeks of the C25k programme culminating in a 30:15 5K run in Galway county. Weight at start of programme 16 stone. Weight at end of programme 15.5 stone.
Changed diet etc with the programme start date and have significently reduced crap food.

I had never run any distance before and certainly not in the past 14 odd years so it was a massive personal achievement.
The programme finished a few weeks ago and I've done a few 4K runs, 5K runs and bits of walking in between.
I found the C25K thread a great help when in the programme so think a log here would be good motivation to keep it going.
I will provide a daily update from here on in. I am loosely following the hal higdons novice 10K guide and would be on week 2/3.
I will not be concentrating on times for the moment, running the distance is key for me right now. I have booked into the 8K streets of Galway at the start of August.
Ultimate aim? I dont know really. Initially its to lose a few stone.

So - this week, did 3K on Saturday, 4K on Monday and 7.5K last night. I will be following this basic "programme" with walking in between the days I am not running.

I was in Achill at the weekend and a large number of my mates were running. One of them had to pull out at the last minute so I decided I'd walk it for the craic.
So finished the achill half in a time of 3:02, walking the majority of it. I just wanted to get around it to be honest. Next year will do better but it fits well into my training.

Just an update. Ran 8K the week after completing the achill half in a very slow time but was delighted to run the whole of it.
Sadly however, the very next evening I fractured two ribs playing another sport.
I havent ran since. I started back light running this week although it is still sore. I will probably hold off on any more running till next week and do some more walking this week.
The streets is on the 7th so its unlikely I will be fit enough to run it but will see what happens.

    Okay,
This is a bit of a joke of a log for a couple of reasons but will fill ye in on what has happened since the last post.
I ran the streets of Galway 8K (with a just recovered broken pair of ribs and no training) in a time of 59 odd minutes. Lovely run.
I did a few short training runs in late August but they were broken up badly with no real rhythm.
    Anyhooooo
    DATE Distance(k) Time Pace(per k)
    4th Sept 9.5 82 8.42
    7th Sept 3.8 30 8.05
    8th Sept 5.4 33 6.18 (Maree Boston Scientific 5K)
    22th Sept 3.5 28
    27th Sept 10.8 76 7.04
    29th Sept 3.1 22
    1st Oct 10.6 73 6.55

    So,
With a bit of luck I am hoping to keep up at least 3 runs a week - two long with a short one in the middle like I did this week. (not standard training, I know but its something I would like to try.)
I am about to purchase a bike as well to alternate the training with.
Current target is a 10K in Inis Meain on the 6th of November.
No real time target, at the moment am running the majority of the distance I am doing but finding I have to walk for small portions of it. First target is to get rid of these walking parts.

Hopefully, I will keep this post up to date this month - trying to get back to a 5K time close to that which I did in my first 5k race and continue to improve on the 10 k times.

    DATE Distance(k) Time Pace(per k)
    4th Oct 10.5 69 6.38

I managed to run the first 7.5 K without any stops tonight so was happy out with that. A few rest breaks(walking) after that but probably the most I have ever actually run in a session.
Planning on a 5K run on Wednesday - hopefully at a faster pace again, then another 10-11K on Friday.
