Yes, I did a few of my lessons in my own car. I'm not sure whether the instructor's insurance covers you in this case, so you might need your own insurance. I was insured in my own car, and my instructor said that he was covered to do the lessons in my own car - he reckons it's more beneficial to do them in your own car, especially coming up to the test.

But what about the dual control thing?! But thats great! :D Really dont want to try to learn to drive the petrol car - i'm too used to diesel!!

As there is no dual control, (s)he mightn't take you in your own car until you have had a few lessons in his/her car, and the instructor knows your capability.

Once you're past the point where you need dual control for safety, doing lessons in your own car wouldn't be a problem for any instructor, and would be more beneficial tbh.

I find this a little strange. Petrol and diesel engined cars aren't significantly different to drive (at least at the learner stage). What do you find difficult about petrol?

Its just that a petrol car has to be rev'd up a gud bit more than a diesel one... and i've been driving a diesel car since i was 10 - so im just so used to it!! but i've done a bit in a petrol car now and its not as bad as i remembored it being!! :D:D:D

You can do the lessons in your own car no problem whatsoever. The instructor will not need to have a dual control car unless you ask for it or he/she thinks you may need dual control for safety.

yes you can, some driving instructors are inclined to do so in your car rather than one with dual control others rather you use the dual control rather than your car but tis up to you sometimes they might give you a choice on the matter.
