    We sell them !

The API were, I think, the first of the 'console-as-components' manufacturers.

The API stuff is all top shelf .

I was in Mark Knopfler's British Grove Studio recently where they have a rebuilt 'Legacy' console ..... when I say rebuilt I mean as new, birds eye maple end cheeks etc etc.

You'll be using your API in 20 years.

    Hi,
Using API 10 slot rack for 2 years now, I use the rack on every session without fail. The units I have are :
API 525 compressor x2 - use it on bass and kick drum mostly , tried vocals but prefer other compressors the attack is too fast for my sort of vocal sound.
API 512c pre x2 - love this pre ,think heavy mids and slightly dark sound / negatives: not as fast as others and when pad engaged sound seems to lose depth..that said still pound for pound one of the best pres out there.

API 550b x2 - great eq simple as that- think tone shaping as apposed to surgical

Buzz audio essence - great compressor with side chain filtering again adds weight to the sound this in my view is a must for api rack owners but note it takes 2 slots

AM 660 compressor - still on the fence about this unit , The price is high but you can get fantastic results and some car crashes- so it's not an all rounder but might be perfect for some sticky dynamic control tracks ! Some tracks can have upto 10 db gain reduction without noticing any grabby artifacts / then on others you can hear 2 db gain reduction !!

Empirical labs derr esser - again a must in my view, a high end de esser in analogue domain with a few tricks up its sleeve !!

Note: I've had to change out 3 API opamps in the last 2 years ( they're covered for 5) but it's worth saying all the same
All in All a great way to mix and match different manufacturers gear in a very easy and fast way - plug and play ..
ALSO I'M GOING TO BUY OTHER RACK!!
    My 2 pence worth
