    Hi. Anyone had any experience of getting a visa to visit China , and how long it takes if you do it through the embassy here in Dublin ?

    I'm going on a organised tour in December, and am wondering would it be enough time to apply 3 weeks before-hand ? But I also want to go to London at the end of November so I'm working out when I would have to be back here in Ireland and possibly without my passport while its in the embassy getting processed).

    Cheers, if anyone has any knowledge of the time it takes to get a visa processed.

    Hi Mike,

    I got one before and it took a week to process, mine was valid from the day of application rather than the date of entry but I think that may have changed since. 3 months for single entry and 6 for double or multiple.

    3 weeks beforehand would be grand and seeing as you have to apply in person there's no chance of it being delayed etc in the post.

    If applying on your own, you can get it done in 2 days if you pay an extra fee (€23). If applying as a tour group it may take longer.

    Got this from this website:

    I booked my trip through Trailfinders when I went and I honestly have no recollection of how I got the visa. Curiosity got the better of me so I looked this up! I don't remember sending in all the things listed underneath. I think I just gave my passport to Trailfinders and they did it! But my visa is an L visa. THe one with all the requirements below is a Z visa so thats prob the difference.

    The Office Hours of the visa office: 09:00-12:00 Monday to Thursday (except Chinese & Irish public holidays)

    It takes 2-3 working days by express service to process a visa application.

    You need the following documents to apply for a China Z visa as an Irish passport holders: one completed visa application form (available on our website); one recent photograph for passport, passport valid up to at least six months with blank pages;photocopy of the Employment Permit from the Ministry of Labour or the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs of China together with formal invitation letter from Government-authorized company, university or relevant local authority;
    A Visa Notification Form issued by Chinese authorized unit.
    a Physical Examination Certificate for Foreign Citizen which can be download from http://ie.chineseembassy.org/eng/Consular/AboutVisa/.
