Done my first IM in nice last weekend everything went almost to plan and only 4 mins off target time.

But i had problems on the run either from too much salt to much to drink or to little problem is i dont know ?

Took two salt tablets during the run and two on the bike, lap 3 of the run stomach cramps and was sick on the course and had to walk for a while, so im looking for some advice on a good drinking/eating plan for the marathon on an ironman

Wont really go into detail for a race report, but a 1hour 20 swim and the swim is mental cos of the way is the course is the whole 3.8km felt like the first 100m just madness very hard to spot in the middle of the bunch.

6hour 02 bike and the bike course scares the f**k out of you switch heaven on the decents and cliffs make for hairy braking on corners, only thing i can say if you do the race is follow an italian any guy with O for a last letter of his name, them guys corner like their on rails, follow their lines,

And the run is like any ironman run just torture and mind games 4hour 05

11hour 44 total but from what i heard its a bit harder than some other races

As well as the salt, could you tell us exactly what you ate and drank on the bike and run? Also if you know your HR's that would be useful.

I know a lot of people disagree with me but I really don't like salt tablets that you swallow whole. I feel they dump a big amount of Nq+/K+ into your system in one shot and I much prefer the slower release of taking a drink with electrolytes added.

Oh and really well don't on the IM. Nice is a tough bike course alright.

Interesting if it would be the salt that did it. I would suggest that's possibly too little salt to take on. Why did you take 4 salt tablets, was there a particular formula/test results used to determine this volume?

I know some of the Ironman guys would go through a sh*t load of tabs in some cases on the run so volume, or lack of, may have been an issue.

So many variables in fairness so hard to tell.
