    Just found out from a lad in here that your man Madoff was Jewish and most of the money he robbed was from Jewish charities.
    I think that makes it worse!

    I saw a doc on the guy and the attitude of most of the Jewish associates he ripped off appeared to be "yeah I could understand if he'd done it to gentiles, but I can't believe he did it to fellow jews" :rolleyes:

    I understand that because at least with the current disaster we were screwed over by our own (the banks and the builders) and not foreigners like the EU and English landlords.

    I already knew he was Jewish but basically the money he swindled was from small investors and charities. That makes it worse than the Goldman Sachs one where one bank cheated another bank. Much much worse morally I'd say if not legally.

    It doesn't make it worse, or better, or have any real effect whatsoever. Would an Irish person robbing from an Irish charity be worse than an Irish person robbing from a French charity?

    I heard he's bipedal and the charities he stole from were run by bipedal people also, there's another theory that he breathes air and the charities he stole from were run by people who also breath air. Either way it's shocking stuff.

    Imagine if it was l'Association charitable irlandaise based in Paris and it was swindled by an Irishman. Wouldn't that be worse than if it was swindled by a frenchman?

    No. It would only be worse if it was embezzlement from within the charity.

    If you were Nigerian and you lived in Dublin would you rather that the Ibo Charitable Association was cheated by an Ibo or an Irishman.

    Apparently on the subject of the people he screwed over, Madoff has said "F*** my victims. I carried them for twenty years, and now I'm doing 150 years". At least he realizes what he did....

    I seem to remember him asking if he could serve his sentence in the executive prison of his choice, and they kindly told him to fuck off to the prison of their choice, and he got to share a cell with a drug dealer.

    I heard an interview on Newstalk last week and it mentioned that the Gardai investigating any criminal activity within the banking sector were not issued with that task because of their expertise in investigating fraud, and that they asked gardai to volunteer for the task instead

    It's no wonder nothing is happening.. they should have given the case to experts in investigating financial crime
