Mediocre Connection

Hi lads Ive recently got rapid broadband in, its like wi-max kinda!

Seeing as I live in west cork a.k.a. middle earth :mad:, and financial constraints this is only 1mb, im mental about MW2 and have an xbox arcarde, question is this, if I go to trouble of getting a hard drive and wi-fi thingy and mic and all that will my 1 mb be fast enough?

Is is it worth the money!?

It may be fast enough but as you probably won't even get the 1mb you're paying for i'd highly doubt it.

I had 2mb broadband and i found it laggy.

It is recommended that you have at least 2 meg.
It depends on if its solid one meg low ping, but still i would say no, i think you would have online problems.

Not to sure how it works, but i think it should be fine unless your hosting. I Used to get 40ms ping in cs with a 512kb connection and i still get a 40ping with my 20 meg.... although thats using dedicated servers.

You might be fine as long as your not the host i guess.

beats me I think its because no matter how much throughput you have, it will still take the same time for your connection to reach the distination ?

But again, i think the p2p **** that mw2 uses depends alot more on download/upload than Dedicated servers.

If you go to www.speedtest.net and do your speed check the first thing it checks is your ping , the average is about 30 (to your local server) , then do a test to a uk server and your ping should increase.
Ping is ms (miliseconds) so lets say the host is from the uk and your ping is35 , that means your 35 miliseconds behind, that is of course that his upload speed has the capacity to host a room.

1mb is more than enough for playing online, had 1mb with eircom in the past and it was fine. it mostly depends on ping as others have said rather than speed

sounds interesting, so its like the delay really? My work one is like just over 2mbs and around 25ms, heres hoping the one at home can contend!

ok results are in, 1.63 down, 1.48 up and 27ms ping....:D
