    Oregon quarterback Jeremiah Masoli is expected to apply for entrance in the NFL’s supplemental draft on July 15th according to Gil Brandt of NFL.com.

    Masoli was kicked off of the University of Oregon’s team by Head Coach Chip Kelly after being charged with possession of marijuana and driving with a suspended California driving license on June 7th.

    Masoli had already been convicted in March of misdemeanor burglary for his role in a campus fraternity theft and was serving a year’s probation.

    Three players have already applied for the draft: BYU’s Harvey Unga, Northwestern State’s Quentin Castille and Truman State’s Vaness Emokpae.

    If a team selects a player in the supplemental draft then they forfeit the corresponding round’s pick in the following year’s traditional draft.

    How good is this guy? Is he good enough that a team like the bills would consider going for him and forfeit their pick next year?

    This guy is one of those guys who will never learn. Done for stealing, Done for Marijuana possession and done for rolling through a stop sign on a suspended license. I just don't see him ever coping on. If he is signed as a pro he will most likely do something stupid and blow his career.

    If he isn't picked up in the Draft the chances are he will end up in Louisiana Tech for his senior year to play football if the NCAA allow him to play that is.

    Oh and Dohnnny Jepp he could have been a real contender to get drafted this year had he not been kicked out of Oregen. Watched him play a few times and he looked like he had bags of potential. The win against the Trojan last year one of his best games over 200 yards passing and 100 odd yards rushing and 2 or 3 TDs.

    You want your QB to be smart, a leader and a hard worker...getting kicked out of college doesnt bode well for this guys abilty in any of the above. Even if he has all the talent in the world (which i doubt) in i wouldnt even waste a 7th on him.

    BYU’s Harvey Unga is an interesting prospect, kicked out of school for having relations (giggidy) with his gf, he is a big thumping back may not have great top speed but i see somebody using at least a 4th on him. He is one of the few guys who enter the supplemental draft who is considered a good character guy.

    Phrases like "You can take the kid out of the hood, but not the hood out of the kid" come to mind every time I see players consistently make bad choices.

    Have to say after reading BYU's Honor code which Unga broke I would have been kicked out of there the day I started :D I feel bad for Unga though as he really didn't break the law if you know what I mean.

    Here are the rules some of them anyways. Not all of the rules are strictly followed but damn look at their standards:
    * Abstinence from illicit drugs, alcohol, tobacco, coffee, and tea (substances forbidden by the LDS Word of Wisdom)
    * Honesty
    * Encouraging others in their commitment to keep the Honor Code
    * Living a chaste and virtuous life:
    o Appropriate gender-specific behavior (no sexual harassment)
    o No involvement with pornographic or indecent material
    o No inappropriate sexual activity (no sexual relationships outside of marriage)
    o No homosexual behavior
    * Obedience to the law
    * Active participation in Church services (according to whatever religion one is a member)
    * Respect for others
    * Clean language
    * Following the "Residential Living Standards" (visiting hours for members of the opposite sex)
    * Dress and Grooming Standards. Abiding by the guidelines for dress, grooming, and housing. Skirts and shorts must reach to the knee and shirts may not be sleeveless. Form fitting, strapless and revealing clothing is not appropriate. Male students may not wear beards or goatees without permission; such permission is usually granted only to men with skin conditions aggravated by shaving, men whose religious beliefs require them to wear beards, or theatrical performances requiring beards.
    * Students are prohibited from having guns on campus.[5]

    Here is the full story of it if anyone wants a read:

    Harvey Unga voluntarily withdrawing from BYU is a shock. Unga is leaving as Brigham Young's leading rusher, and after turning down a possible leap to the NFL to return for his senior season. It's why he's leaving, however, that might be the true stunner.

    Brigham Young has one of the strictest honor codes in American higher education. Students cannot drink, cannot have beards without a waiver, cannot wear sleeveless clothing, and cannot engage in "homosexual behavior and/or advocacy." Unga's violation of the honor code was announced in the same press release as his girlfriend Keilani Moeaki's violation and subsequent withdrawal. Putting two and two together would seem easy: Unga and Moeaki, who have been dating for about three years and were briefly engaged, likely had premarital sex, which violates the "live a chaste and virtuous life" tenet of the BYU honor code. It should be stressed that this is all speculation, but with Unga and Moeaki announcing simultaneous withdrawals, it's hard to imagine anything other than sex -- or a pregnancy -- being the cause.

    It's a function of the restrictions of Mormonism that BYU must be so harsh (even though Jim McMahon, not even a Mormon, certainly worked out for the school until he didn't), but it's both commendable and -- to me -- lamentable that Unga and Moeaki are apparently volunteering to leave school rather than fight BYU on the subject. On one hand, Unga and Moeaki are abiding by the rules of their school and copping to a violation of both the letter of a rule and the spirit of their religion; on the other, it's beyond weird to think that two mature college athletes could have thrown away their scholarships for having sex within a committed relationship, considering how athletes at other schools can speak openly about how not wearing a condom is "just stupid," and I'd love to know the full extent of this story.

    When reminders like this trickle out about BYU's stringent honor code, the athletic accomplishments of various Cougars teams seem even more far-fetched. How can a college that offers a totally non-stereotypical college experience recruit on par with major college programs? It's like every BYU season is full of the "Catholics vs. Convicts" storyline that Notre Dame and Miami dealt with, except it's the morally rigid Mormons against everybody else.

    And now Harvey Unga and Keilani Moeaki won't be a part of the next one, probably because of premarital sex in a relationship that might lead to marriage. That might be bizarre to me and you, but that's just how things are at BYU.

    Yeah I'm aware of the Unga thing, BYU is one of those crazy religious schools.

    And Unga is the one that everybody is interested in. Its just about what you would give up to get him. Is he worth a 3rd rounder, I've been thinking about it and with all the players that came out early this year he might even be worth a 2nd.

    The Patriots have two 1sts next year so they are in a great position to make a move if they want him, it doesn't hurt them nearly as much to give up a 2nd or a 3rd and I think it will take a 2nd to be certain of getting Unga, I think there will be a couple of teams interested in parting with a 3rd round pick for him.

    With Faulk, Taylor and Morris all up on 34 now, the Patriots really have to be thinking hard about this one.

    Is it wrong that I misread those rules as from the LSD world of wisdom?

    Masoli should have shone last year but didn't, think the rep is bigger than the ability, 5th rounder at best.

    Saw a lot of Masoli last year and was really impressed by him. Pity he's such an idiot.
