Hi everyone. I recently purchased a drum kit with the intent on playing with others but i dont know where to start because i am a bit rusty since i havent touched a kit since i was 18 and im 26 now. basically I was wondering what is the best way to get practicing with other musicians. as i said i have a kit but where i live is very condensed and will annoy the neighbors. so basically i would love to meet some people in the galway area and just get chatting and maybe start jamming . im dying to get started lol. or if you have any other suggestions that i can try or go please let me know,

I think you have an ad up on this forum so that's a start. I would also put up an ad in The Forge. As a drummer, you will no doubt be in high demand!

Thank you malice thats perfect. I could go there once a week to practice and not annoy the neighbors (or would i look like a loner) and if anyone is interested in jamming with me il pay for the rehearsl room :)

If your willing to pay for a rehersal space to practice by yourself, who cares if someone thinks your a loner. Id call that commitment tbh! Best option would be an electronic kit so ya can slap on earphones id think but while not being a drummer, i can guess its not like playing an actual kit.

To be fair to electronic drums, they have come along way. Though if you're getting one, I highly recommend getting one with MESH heads as they are far more realistic than the rubber ones.

Though they do have a higher price tag too so.....

Anyways OP, have you considered getting some drum dampeners?
They can be really handy when noise is an issue and dont detract too much from the drumming experience (IMHO). Could also prove to be a cheaper alternative than just renting a rehearsal space once a week. Also, you could practice whenever you wanted.

What you need sir is the Pearl Rythem Traveller...

I have one myself from when I used to play drums, really is a perfect solution. Have a look on youtube for some vids...

As said don't be so quic to dismiss e-drums. They're of a very very high standard these days, and if you look into the electro-acoustic side (Jobeky and Diamond Drums) they can also look the absolute business.

Roland's lower end kits are still excellent, I've gigged using a TD-3 and it did fine, so if you can pick one up for a reasonable price it'd beat paying studio fees, plus you can pop Guitar Pro or something through it and play along.

    Hey,

I've been drumming for ages now. Over the past year or so I've been picking up the guitar but have never really jammed it out with anyone.

If you like the sound of an amateurish drummer jamming with an amateurish guitarist give me a shout and I'll hook up with ya in the forge! A kind of help each other get better buzz by jamming it out.

Might even be able to give you a drumming tip or 2 :p

I sent ya a p.m. I can send ya a few tracks I've recorded aswell.
