Doors before floors?

Does it matter which is installed first, doors or floors?

I am putting down nearly all wood floors even in kitchen. As long as I know the height of the floor and leave enough space I should be ok, right? I think any new build I have been the doors were in and no floors down.

Also I am putting in a solid fuel range in kitchen. Common senese tells me it's not a great idea to run the wooden floor under this. Any idea what can be used, a slab of stone/slate maybe?

    Thanks for any help.

Floors then doors.Unless you are happy to go planing your doors and that you'll get it absolutely perfect.

You might get the height of the door right in the opening, but across the swing of the door is another story. Also you'll have to make sure your frames are perfect too.

I don't think I've ever seen the doors first and then the floors. It doesn't make much sense.

Thanks for your reply Dan. Yeah when you put it like that it doesn't make sense. Just bringing on unnecessary work.
    Cheers

Don't think I'd do this Bull, when you're filling the fire, or emptying the ash, you'll inevitibly get cinders or ash on the floor. Ash probably not such a big deal but cinders on timber floor will mark it over time. You could consider running a few tiles where the stove will be sitting? My brother has done this and it looks well.
