    Hi all,
I'm thinking about going for a fishing day to the River Barrow for the first time this weekend.

I have found some info on fishing sites about the river and many mention good Coarse fishing areas between Monasterevan and Athy, however none mention where the access is.

Maybe it's easy and directions are posted on the road, but I don't want to waist time up and down the road looking for access to the river.
Can anybody give me some directions?

The barrow has a canal running and tow path alongside and access to the main river is quite easy, although the canal is good for fishing too...also access at the bridges, maganey bridge for example, there are many others... or below the weir in Athy then use the old pegs.....the weir pools can be great for the pike...

There are a lot of active angling clubs on the river Barrow. I would advise you to check out locally to where you want to fish to see if you require a club permit.
