I have a HD200 combo for over a year now. The 200 is now discontinued so no more firmware updates. The 300 is still being updated as far as I know.

Cant see much of a difference between them, does the 200 combo have same channel recording spec as the 300 combo which allows to record and watch a different channel on same transponder?

I have the 300. Probs wish I'd bought the "Edision Argus mini 2 in 1 IP Combo HD Satellite/DTT Receiver" now over at saortv.com. It's cheaper then the HD300 and by all accounts has a better feeling GUI. The MVision is a little basic I think by comparison.

The HD300 will play .avi files from a USB.
The HD300 records .ts files to the HDD so you can play them on a PC.

I don't think the Edison can do that - I've read that its files can't be played back so easily. However the Edision has an internet connection and can do more ( some features promised in a firmware update I think) like record DTT and watch Sat, record Sat and playback a recording etc, which the HD300 can't do. The HD300 can only watch another channel on same TP when recording. If you're recording DTT or SAT you can't watch the other.

Have a look here in Edision forum for more detail Saortv forum

How is the 300 operation wise? I suffer a bit from the 200 hanging once in a while powering off and on the unit is the only solution.

It's been pretty good really. Only one lock up I recall. It records CBeebies for 30 mins each day without issue! My major gripe with it is that the power consumption is a bit high (The Edision is about 1W in standby) - the Mvision is much higher I feel in standby, also since it doesn't seem to turn off after recording sometimes its running away at 40 odd Watts - ok nothing major really as it cents but you feel like its an oversight by them. I've put a standby timer in at 2300 every day to at least knock it off.

Yes I did notice that the 200 was still extremely warm even on standby. I placed a laptop cooling pad underneath the box which runs from its USB port since then the locking issue is only once a Month as opposed to once a week before the cooling pad was in place.

The feature I most like about the 200 and I'm sure the 300 is the same would be the channel preview screen when in epg mode this is very handy.
