Just wondering has everything come to a halt these days? I put thinkgs on hold two years ago and got completely out of the loop since. Now methinks it is time to get back in and make a start.

Good idea or am I mad? I have my planning all set to go.

If you have planning and you have the money its a great time to build, prices are well down on what they were a few years ago, you can get a good contractor in a lot of areas at quite reasonable rates so go for it!! and good luck!!

I started building when it was rock bottom and its a great time to build. Plenty of trades avialable, costs are down, no chasing builders to finish things off etc etc

There seems to be a lot of one offs and self builds starting. Eager to get the roof on before the winter I'm sure. Great prices at the moment although materials went up slightly recently. The new materials we are building with such as cellulose and softboard, the new technologies like MHRV and 100 litre stratified cylinders are holding steady and not dropping enough I'd say, but then again its true what you say, you get what you pay for.

Starting my roof next week. I think the biggest gain , is not chasing builders, and there finishing the job. Also plasterers now are down about 50 to 60 percent in price in the west.

...indeed they did, and timber-based products are due another hike in the Autumn, according to several suppliers.....

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”
