    Meath/Cavan wedding venues
Myself and my fiance have just started to try planning our wedding. The ceremony itself will be near Kells / Virginia, so we're looking for a reception venue within a 30-45 minute drive. Anyone have any recommendations for hotels that can cater for approx 250-300 people?

Was at a wedding in Cavan Crystal last year. It was lovely!
Am getting married myself next year and had looked at Trim Castle. It was too big for our wedding. I was actually quite disappointed with it after hearing loads of people raving about it!
My friends brother got married in Knightsbrook in December and my friend raved about that one.
Sorry dont know anything about the others.
    Good Luck

i had my wedding reception in the Darnley lodge hotel athboy 2 years ago and they could not have been more accomodating. both myself & spouse are from meath so we researched all the hotels!! word of warning - the headfort arms are a complete and total rip off, they charge for extras that are complementary with most wedding packages, as i am from the area i have attended many a shoddy wedding at this venue

Clonabraney house is just outside and is a venue with a difference if that interested you, old style done up with a marquee attached, plenty of little cottages around on site too for guests.. as for the headfort, I wouldnt rule it out, thier doing deals at the minute that include band and dj, I was at a weddin the other day there and the food was just gorgeous, plenty of sparkling wine, great day all round so maybe worth your while to check out everywhere cos people's experiences can be very different

Cabra Castle in Kingscourt, Co Cavan. It's right on the Cavan/Meath border and it's a lovely venue. I've been to a few weddings and other functions there and the service is great.

Bellinter House is an amazing hotel with superb grounds, food great - same as Eden restaurant in temple bar. Staff make the atmosphere so relaxing.

The Millhouse in Slane and also Tankardstown house are great spots!!!!
