    Anyone getting involved this week?
I'm struggling to pick 1 out in the us as i've very little info on the course,it's pretty short and par 70,the fact that it's short will take the driver out of tiger's hand so he may come good
however as it's a pretty tight track he's way too short for a small punter like me,Jim Furyk of the shorter priced seems the obvious choice
I'm going for 2 outsiders, firstly Spencer Levin,@150/1good player but very short so he normally looses out as he struggles on the par 5's
Also at 250/1 Richard s Johnson is priced too big on a short track that should suit

In Europe i fancy Alejandro Canizares @66/1 very strongly, really think this guy could be a star in the future, great swing, very good course form, played very well last week
I've also backed him Top 10 and Top 20,hope i don't end up with egg on my face

Just two little tiddlers for me this week.
In the AT & T, Ricky Barnes has been getting close, playing some very solid golf the last few weeks. Small e/w on him @ 40's.
In the French open, gonna have another tiddler on Ross McGowan, who has been showing up on the radar more and more lately. Another small e/w on him @ 100's.
    Both prices from Boyles.

I've had a load of near misses recently most notably at the US Open where the majority were well in contention going into Sunday(Johnson )
Last week I had Scotty McCarron(150/1 *an old favourite of mine as a kid :p), Ben Curtis(75/1) and Brett Snaedker(40/1) were in contention except for the latter who missed the cut.

Anyway, I was just looking at the odds a little earlier.

Charl Schwartzel is the standout @ 20/1 for me for the French Open. Finished 15 or 16th I think was in the US Open and finished in the top 10 at the BMW. So he's clearly playing some good golf at the moment.

In the States, as mentioned Furyk is very tempting @ 12/1. I'll be certainly be backing Davis Love E/W at 66/1, he's another one who was very much in contention on Sunday at the US Open going into the back 9 but faltered towards the end.
Sean O'Hair is another one @ 25/1 that I like.

yeah i always thought McCarron was cute also:D
i was just about to post o 'Heir up myself,i knew he was from PA but i didn't realize he is a member of this course, must be a huge advantage on this course in particular,25/1 won't last long

    :pac:

When I got Sky in 2002 and thus watched golf on a regular basis, every week it seemed McCarron was always contending on the PGA Tour. I still remember the World Matchplay, where he lost in the final to Kevin Sutherland and how much I was rooting for Scotty :P Terrific driver of the ball but his putting has been his Achilles heel for a long time now.

Didn't realise O'Hair was a member of the course  Though I knew he's from PA. It would be stupid not to have something on him.
He's another one who did well at the US Open finish 12th.

O'hair has actually been playing pretty steady all season. I'd love to see him pick up another event.

    Westwood laid low in Paris

Lee Westwood was taken to hospital on the eve of the French Open in Paris today after the discovery of what could be a blood clot in his right leg. And with the British Open at St Andrews only two weeks away the world number three was not the only star who had to pull out of the pro-am at Le Golf National.

Ian Poulter did not compete either after a bite on his right shin appeared to have become infected, Ryder Cup captain Colin Montgomerie rested his Achilles heel problem and Italian teenager Matteo Manassero had been hit on the left hand.

But Westwood was the one causing the most concern and after being examined on site he was tight-lipped and not wanting to comment as he was driven away with his wife Laurae.

Former Tour colleague Stuart Cage, who now works for Westwood’s management company International Sports Management, said: “Lee felt pain in the calf and it was swollen yesterday. But when he woke this morning his ankle was swollen too, so he decided to have it checked out in the physio truck.

“The French doctor there thought it could be a blood clot and said Lee should go to hospital for tests. He has not pulled out of the tournament yet because he is still really keen to play. A decision will not be taken until the results of the tests are known.

“Obviously he has to take the doctor’s decision seriously because it’s a very important time of the year with The Open coming up.”

Poulter said: “I was practising at Woburn on Monday and got bitten by a horsefly or something. It was swollen yesterday and when I put my hand in my pocket I felt a big lump on my groin and knew it wasn’t right.

“I went to the doctors, was given antibiotics and decided I was well enough to fly this morning, but that’s probably not done it any good. An English doctor said I should go and have an intravenous drip but the French one did not think that was the right thing to do and has given me tablets.

“I’ll come up in the morning to see how it is. Hopefully I’ll be okay, but walking for five hours is not going to do it any good and nor is the heat.”

Montgomerie was under treatment all last week in Munich for both a torn calf muscle and Achilles strain, but Manassero’s mishap came while he was practicing yesterday and did not see the shot from another group after letting them through.

The 17-year-old, who finished a spectacular 13th in last year’s British Open as an amateur, has been assured there is no break and is keen to play after being given one of seven invitations he is allowed after turning professional following the US Masters in April.

:( Hope the horsefly is ok, not sure if they thrive on dung like regular flies though :pac:

nice start but it's just first round,as i always say these boys aren't robots,so you need a fair bit of luck more than anything imo,but as i said before i really like this lad, pity there's a few big guns such as Kaymer up there,Rory looked pretty much in control today,he's my danger at the mo along with big MK

Justin Rose just after winning the AT&T, second win in a month, it's been some year for Europeans on the PGA Tour. Wonder if he'll have some champers on the flight to Adare.

I'd agree with you on Rose, a very likeable chap and nice to see him finding such form. He has to be a live contender for the Open at this stage.

Fair enough, That was a bit cringy alright, but I still think he seems like a decent enough bloke. If you went for a pint with him I'd say you'd have a laugh. Can you imagine going for a for a pint with Rose or IJP?

I have no gripe with him per se, i just never warmed to him. To be honest i'd have happily seen anyone else in the field win the at&t bar him.

Have to agree with that. there was just something about him that I never warmed to either strange the way that goes...
