I presume you mean Bad Company 2, rather than Battlefield 2. What time today was this? If it was earlier today, the servers were down for regular maintenance.

At what point does it fail? Can you log in with your EA account, or does it fail after that, such as when trying to join a game.

Still nothing, says it failed to connect to the server, check network connection, but it was fine for playing the other games.

    Eircom

There were various cases of the firewall on the Eircom supplied Netopia routers blocking connections wrongly.

Try deactivating it and testing again.

Typical eircom, how exactly do you deactivate it?

There should be a label/logo/sticker with the model on it somewhere. And it should be on the menu screens. From the sounds of it, that option might put your PS3 in a DMZ, which might achieve what we want.

Do you have the security/firewall page, what options do you have and what state are they in?

Yeah have that open now, have 3 options.

    1. Allow all incoming connections
    2. Allow only essential services
    3. Set access for specific services and applications

It was set to the second one first, then i tried the first option and still nothing.

Sorry, I'm running out of ideas. The majority of PS3 BFBC2 players congregate in the Playstation forum so I could move the thread there for the possibility they may have more PS3 specific insight.

Interent Settings are located on the PS3

Scroll down to System update and keep going down till you see Internet settings.
Then your Nat Type will come up.

I belive you need a Nat type 1 for smooth gameplay on Battlefield and I even think its required, otherwise you wont be able to connect.

    Hope this helps you.
I know my brother has a website were he wrote up tips for getting your Eircom Connection working at its best for your PS3.:)

NAT 2 is perfect for gaming.

If you want to try for NAT 1, try this...
