Hong Kong to Beijing

Anyone know the price of a return train trip from HK to Beijing? Or how long it would take? Had a look on some Chinese train website and was quoted about 400 one way which seems way too steep. Think it was part of the trans-Siberian rail network.

Want to stay for a few days in Beijing, go see the great wall and then head back to HK all in 5/7 days.

Anyone tried this out or would it be better to get a flight up?

    Cheers.

    Look here

It's about a 24 hour journey. Personally I'd fly but if you're not in a hurry and like sleeper trains then it's an option.

If you go with the flying option then use the airport in Guangzhou or Shenzen and get the train over the border. It'll work out a lot cheaper as Hong Kong flights are classed as international and onsequently very expensive.
