I would go this way, you get to people watch on o'connell st. But try a few different ways and see what works for you.

Playing dodgems with the people crossing without looking on O'Connell St. is always fun, so it's definitely an option.

I'd probably do something between the two though and go Dorset St.->Gardiner St., then around the Custom House.

    Hi ,

I am wondering if anyone here knows what would be the quickest route cycling from DCU ( Ballymun Rd) to Trinity College Dublin ?

This is the quickest from DCU to TCD, here, and this is the best (possibly also the quickest) return, here.

    Try this.

The other route (up the Drumcondra Road etc) could be quicker but only of you're going to the Nursing Building, for most of DCU the route I'm suggesting is more direct and nicer -- less buses and coaches, less traffic in general, no crap on-footpath cycle lanes and long stretches of bus lanes too small for a bike and bus.

There's a few key bits to note. Going to town, just as you cross the Royal Canal turn left (picture here) go in here, it's one way but two-way for cyclists. This will bring you out onto the South Circular Road -- use the same back to DCU.

Also at going to DCU continue on on the Botanic Road, don't go up St Mobhi Road, left and go past the Botainc Gardens and at Glasnevin Hill go up the Ballymun Road there.

Don't like going through phibsborough myself. I'd head down Ballymun road, down mobhi hill, up botanic avenue, turn right onto drumcondra road, straight up dorset st to parnell sq and then up o connell st.

Thanks for that , I know the shortcut you're talking about at the canal that will leave me out onto the north circular , I'll go that way in the morning and evening.

Yeah, the Royal Canal Bank shot cut allows you to bypass the main street in Phibsborough. Have a map of it from before here.
