McGuirks and Halpenny golf are two decent outlets. They have a scattering of shops around; Blanch/Howth/Swords/Lucan etc. If you're starting off totally from scratch, I'd imagine you'd probably find something more appropriate here than in a Pro Shop of any golf course, as they're normally aimed at more seasoned players.

Regarding price, I'm not sure to be honest. Here's a link to some Complete Sets McGuirks are selling online. Might be best to try this before you figure out if you really enjoyy it and want to play enough to warrant better/more expensive kit.

Have you ever played before? If not, why dont you borrow a set and play 5 or 6 rounds to make sure its something you can really get involved with, before you spend your cash.

This is a good suggestion. If you know any golfers, I'd imagine quite a few of them have an old second set up in the attic. Might be worth asking around. Or else ask in a local club. If they sense you are a possible member, they'd probably let you use an old set a few times.

you can buy really good sets of irons now for 300 euro which is well worth it,
a set of cobras would do the trick for you,
id even ask your mates if they have any old ones you can use as a trade in,
if someone is trying to sell you second hand ones i wouldnt pay over 200 no matter what they are because like i said there is great value out there now, mguirks is the best place for price and theyre online too
