Powering off problem

    Hi guys,

Sorry if this has been posted before, I searched the forum but I've usually tried the suggestions I've found.

I have an Acer Aspire 5315, it's about 2 years old, and the past while it has been powering off randomly and getting very hot on the base. The laptop is in good condition, not many programs and only used for internet, music etc. so it's not hugely overworked. I recently upgraded from Vista to Windows 7, thinking this might help it, but it's the same since. I tend to keep it raised so air can get in underneath it, and I have cleaned out the fans a few times too.

Also, don't know if this is related to it, but sometimes it tends to freeze with the hard drive light on for a set amount of time, about 40 seconds, then works fine again .

    Thanks in advance.

Ps. This happens anytime, not just with programs, even if it's just on the desktop.

Your laptop is overheating and is about to die. Which means replacing mother board or buying a new one.

Ah yeah, I had a feeling it might be on the way out. I just thought I'd check around, see if there was anything that could be done to fix it or just delay the inevitable. Thanks.

I would remove the cpu clean it apply termail paste and see how it goes then sounds like the cpu is overheating ive fixed so many laptops by applying new termial paste to the cpu :D
