Maintenance Grant

    I have submitted an application for the maintenance grant and i'm just wondering if anyone can give me an idea of how long (roughly) they take to be processed? I'm sure it varies depending on the local authority but I would appreciate if anyone could give me an idea of how long it takes on average before I find out whether my application is successful or not.

    With Galway CC it didn't find out until the end of august in 08 but as you said it varies

    It really does vary for each local authority. I know for mine last year with Mayo CC I didn't find out until start of October, but a friend under same local authority found out the start of Septmeber.
    A person I know who applied last year from Galway CC didn't find out until November '09, so its really hard to predict.

    I got mine at the start of the college term (applied to local authority), a friend of mine (living in the same district but applying to the VEC) got hers last week. We both applied at the same time. There is honestly no way to know. Maybe if you wanted to disclose who you're applying to someone who has applied to them before could give you a bit of an idea.
