How to find a housemate!

    Hey all:)!
There's a group of three of us that have this lovely place as good as sorted for september, its like 5 mins away from college, in Snipe ave! Only thing is we have a spare room and are finding it hhard to fill, not because of the room itself, just because its a hard thing to do!
I'm wondering if anyone can give me tips on how to find a housemate, like how do you know that a stranger isnt an axe-murderer and that! All of our friends are already paired up with people they HAVE TO live with, but our room is a single ensuite, so we only need one person! I joined easyroomates.com but the majority of people there were either postgrads or professionals who wanted to live with people in a similar line (we're all undergrads!) or else they were only interested in a short stay, 3 or 4 months!
I don't think I have the right to advertise on daft or rent.ie because I don't own the place, its on us to find someone to live with us but we dont own it!!
Posted a thread on the third level accommodation sub-forum, but its not the most active forum on here, if ya get me;)! I think people mightn't know about it!
Just wondering can anyone tell me something I CAN do to grab attention and find a housemate!!

    Cheers:)!

Im not sure the best way, but I do think you acn advertise it on daft. just stating that you are not owner(i think tis something like onwer not living here ect)

What are you gnerally looking for amle, females ect you could always post something up in galway advertiser. And sure its always hard to not know who your room mates are ect, I have heared some horror stories, but they are far and few between. you generally get people that are nice. Well thats for me anyways, i might be lucky.

With a place so clsoe to the college i doubt it would be hard to fill it up, even if you through up some posters around colelge with a phone number and in centra near the college you could get some intrested people.

But I would check out daft.ie

try the classified ads in the galway advertiser. costs about €13 for an ads AFAIK

    http://www.advertiser.ie/galway/classifieds
flick through the ads in the To Let section and you'll get the idea of what to put in the ad.
too bad you don't have two rooms cos then me and my mate would be interested

    best of luck

You don't have to be the owner to advertise on daft! I've put several ads up there in the past when we were trying to fill a room. Just put it in the "Sharing" section. Should be grand.
