Just wondering is it ok to wear a black dress to a wedding nowadays? Im the grooms sister btw. Its just the dress I had is too similar to bridemaids one in colour and bride not happy, which is grand. But Im not willing to go buy another and all I have in my wardrobe is black dresses.

I was at a wedding recently I wore black, at least 3 others I remember were wearing black too. My mother went to a small wedding in italy and 2 wearing black there. I brightened my dress up with red shoes and accessories.

    So go for it IMO!

My FMIL wore a STUNNING black dress for a wedding last year. She got compliments from every one, so I think its ok to wear black.

I have worn black to a wedding before - just a black dress, it's a gorgeous dress - got so many compliments on it. There is nothing wrong with wearing black. Personally I prefer black. I hate the typical awful pastel / blue / bright pink dresses that some girls wear that just scream "wedding attire" ugh. The only colour that you should not wear is any variation of white - cream, ivory, etc.

Black would be grand to wear for a wedding! If you're worried about looking too dark, you could always wear a contrasting pair of shoes and a matching bag.

Black dresses are all the rage at the mo - compliment with some co-ordinating brightly coloured shoes/bag/pashmina/fascinator/etc...
