    Hi guys
Me and my friends have been on summer holidays now for a while. So as a joke i said i might dye my hair dark red, just for the 2 months left, and since then i've grown rather fond of idea of dark red hair. But right now i have dark brown hair. So i was wondering if you guys could give advise on semi pernament dark red hair dye i.e. good brands, basic info
    thanks

I have naturally dark brown, almost black hair(although the grey is changing that!) I coloured my hair dark red for a good few years, and have used many different brands. I tend to stick with L'Oreal because their product seems to suit my hair. Schwarzkopf colour gives a lovely intense red, but i always, without fail, had reaction from their colours. Red is a very difficult colour to keep in your hair as it tends to fade very quickly, and looks dead and dull relatively quickly, usually within 2 weeks. My trick was to use a wash in colour around week 3, and it would perk the colour up again. Its also pain to get rid of, you could be dyeing your hair back to brunette for months and ther red will still peep through.
Try a semi permanent red first, to see if you like it, they'll also give you much shinier healthy looking hair. Boots own brand semi's are really good for the price, and aren't messy or strong smelling.

I was dying my hair red for a few months. Was using the Live Colour XXL.

It tends to fade quickly and to keep the vibrance you need to maintain it often.

You can buy a 'red' shampoo thought, John Frieda I think? Which will help keep the colour longer.

The one thing I regret about doing it now is that it's an absolute whore to get out.

I used L'Oreal's Casting Creme Gloss dye in Terracotta about two months ago, it started out a red-dy purple, and turned into a dark red. Now it's fading out pretty evenly and is just a strong-red-y/brown :)
