    500, it is true.

Heard it was 900 signed up for Voluntary leave with 850 or so given the go ahead. That should be the end of the good old Telecom Eireann staff.

I thought this was about customers who got a warning about file sharing and told Eircom to get lost !

I'm sure we'd hear and see about it if it did.

Well if vodafone are in charge of it things wont get much better. Its strange telecom eireann owned eircell. Eircell is taken over by vodafone who are now in charge of telecom/eircom.

I know yeah its madness. I like eircom workers as in the lads on the road. They dont really drag the day and do a good days work..

Drastic problems call for drastic solutions. When measured in terms of the cost of insuring debts - and they have a lot of them - Eircom is the 5th-worst-off company in the world, as reported last week. Translation: Doomed. If these layoffs are the result of managers in a panic, they're right to be in a panic.

I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Alot of staff were offered early retirement/voluntary redundancy packages with a deadline to take them up by June. My dad took the retirement, finished last friday after 40 years with the company

I too, I worked the Emergency Services. The stories I could tell about that place. So bad, I made formal Complaint to ComReg. So bad, they followed through with it. They found reason to investigate, where as funnily enough, when Eircom did their own Internal Investigation everything was tickety -boo. I was not happy with their investigation, and told them I was able to vindicate at least some of my accusations.I also told them I wouldnt have made such an allegation, had I not strongly believed in that something should be done, and I was not a liar, and I was not going to walk away with the truth untold. So I went to Com Reg.

management ass kickers, underlings bootlickers. Grown men telling tells and tattling, other behaviour too, which I wont mention. Not yet anyway :) But was shocking, and Im not easily shocked.
    .
I called it a pit of vipers, I grew to feel sick going in. I did however in fairness find the majority of staff were very decent people.
I had a wonderful wonderful man for my team lead though.Thing was he wasnt on all my shifts, had he been I might have stayed. Pure gentleman.
Apart from him my time there was pretty much dire. I loved the work.
