Me and two of my friends(all girls) are going to Liverpool for 5 days tomorrow, we are all just finished our leaving cert. We are staying in a hostel in a ten person mixed dorm, it was way cheaper so we didn't have much of a choice. Thing is, I am very very worried that there might be weirdos in our room, we are quite young so I mean, what if there are intimidating males? How do we handle this?? I am sort of freaking out here.

I have never been in that one. Its a bit out from town so that can only be good. I stayed in the embassie hostel in liverpool. There was one strange lad there but harmless. He was nothing compared to some people in London Hostel's so you should be fine. You shouldnt be worried but if you do come across someone like that just say it at reception and they might let ye change rooms.

Okay, thank you so much, I am sure it will be fine, I will folllow your advice with telling reception if we are weirded out, thanks again:)

Biggest problems in hostels is the smell! 10 pairs of socks in one room.

As for the weirdos: be weirder and you'll freak them out.

You should be fine I've stayed in hostels before. If you do at all feel uncomfortable with whoever happens to be there too just stick together and you will be fine, do the usual 3 girls at once going to the bathroom thing too :)

so long as there are no Israeli backpackers in the dorm you should be fine ;)

seriously, just ask/demand reception for another room if any oddballs

You can always request a same sex dorm. Hostel reception should be able to cater for most requests like that, only when a hostel is choc-a-bloc will they have an excuse not to comply to your request.

But for girls that only cuts down the chances of meeting weirdos by about 10% tho.
Girls are WAYYYY more weirder then boys.
