Does anyone know of the current status of the site? I know of the frankly appalling behaviour of metal detectorists on the site and the case where a MD tried to flog off coins and artifacts from the site via Sothebys but has there been any movement on preserving the site or excavating it properly?

I remember emailing one of the local journalists from the area a few years ago and he had told me that unfortunately alot of the earthworks have been damaged either by the landowner, MDs or by idiots racing quads or something up and down them.

From what I remember, there's a legal dispute going on about who owns the artifcats therefore the National Museum cannot display what they have from the site, and also cannot discuss the subject publically - it seems a shame that what may be one of the most important Iron Age sites in Ireland cannot be excavated correctly (if theres much left after the looting etc..)
