Phoenix Park Polo

Spent Sunday in the Phoenix Park at a Polo Tournament with a view to sending on to magazines. Used a Canon 1dmk3 with a Sigma 120-300 f2.8 EX for nearly all of the shots, very handy especially when you can zoom back from 300mm when riders are coming towards you without have to change camera bodies. Shot from between the corner and goal of the pitch with the sun at my back, ISO 400 and between 1/1000th and 1/1250th of a second to freeze the action and give me a decent depth of field especially with more than one player in the frame.

Effects

In one shot a dude is hitting the ball on the left of the horse with his right hand with the horse at speed. Seems like a pretty hard sport.
