I measured my sitbones and am getting 130mm. Should i get a saddle with a width of somewhere between 125 and 135mm then? This saddle thing is doing me head in,thinking of giving up the bike altogether. anybody know of good bike shops where you can demo a saddle.

    Some of this.

You want the saddle wide enough that your sitbones don't roll off, but narrow enough that your thighs don't rub.

Don't let it do your head in! Saddles cost me a small fortune before I got serious about measuring etc and got it right. In the end its worth it.

Believe it or not I used play dough between two sheets of paper. I made sure it was flat and resting on a table top. I then sat on it and measured centre to centre the indents. Towels folded over work too as does some types of cardboard.
Next I took a look at the saddles I hated and noticed they all had round profiles. The saddle I liked best was flat - obviously others prefer the round shape. After deciding on width and shape I got a saddle to match. 1st day on the new saddle gave me almighty bruises on the sit bones but it just kept getting better after that. Another prob is some guys being off the bike or doing smaller milage - they return and some find they instantly dislike their saddle. Its likely thev'e put on a few pounds, arent as flexible etc. If they stick with the saddle they'll probably like it again after a few weeks. One inflexible rule I'd go with - Do not put up wth pain, sort it out!
