hey a friend of mine is on her erasmus but is hating every second of it, sure shes gonna fail exams and working all the time to cant study really,

she was wondering if it's possible to bail on the year and go back into 3rd year arts,

She was doing arts, then because of her choses or something it became a four year course under a different yet strikingly similar name... anyway

what im sayin is can she forget this year and start in arts again in 3rd year or would she have to stick it out or drop out?

    sparks xxxxxxxxxxxx

yes we are going to ring the college before someone suggests that

    No I don't think so!

If the course your friend is in contains a compulsory year abroad, then that is as important as 1st, 2nd, or 4th year. To "bail out" of the Erasmus year, would be the same as just deciding to give 2nd year a miss, as far as the officials are concerned.

Of course, if your friend is having serious problems with the college she's studying in etc, then it is important to get onto the college and they will do their best to rectify it, as the whole Erasmus system is extremely concerned with the welfare of students.

However, if it is merely your friend hating it, then there is not going to be much that the college can do, apart from suggest that she drops out of her course and does something else, as this is a key part of the course.

Also, if your friend chose a language in 2nd year, then it is clearly stated in the book of modules that the student is entering into Language and Cultural Studies, and is required to spend 3rd year abroad, as a compulsory element.
