Its basically group that solve crimes by using their ability to read all of the things I've listed in the title of the thread. I have have become very interested in this and was wondering is there any creedence to the methods used to tell if people can be read based on what way their face twitches or the clench a fist or fidget as a general way of reading the human species vast array of emotions to see if they are telling lies or ashamed of something etc.

This is a bit of an older thread but I recently began watching Lie to Me and I have to say that I do not buy into the belief that one's gestures and facial expressions will convey their intent.

I think what we perceive to be questionable behavior comes from a very Euro-centric view. In America, the dominant society perceives an individual who does not look you in the eye is lying to you and someone with a weak handshake is not confident and passive in nature.

Yet, in the Native American community, to look into the eyes of another person is to be aggressive and rude, especially if that individual is an elder. A firm handshake is a sign of aggression meant to be a contest of will so most Natives slightly touch hands when shaking hands.
