Just think Katey Sagal is really underrated. Just finished Sons of Anarachy brilliant performance. Also Terry O'Quinn.

I think both are great, but wouldn't consider either underrated... Especially not O'Quinn...

And Sagal has quite a colourful TV background (Married With Children, Futurama, 8 Simple Rules, Lost, Sons of Anarchy) and is rated quite highly I think...

Both are under the radar of mainstream Hollywood actors IMO. While both have done a huge amount of work, they both seem to be not readily recognizable in the mainstream. Oh look it's Locke or oh its the wife in Married with Children.

Lets put it this way neither are overrated and both possible should be.

Some of the best actors working today aren't "big names" - Michael C Hall is a great example.

One of the finest actors working in TV and bar an appearance in the apparently woeful 'Gamer', he hasn't made the slightest of dents in Hollywood and isn't one of those instantly recognizable faces.

But the pundits in Hollywood and any fan of quality television drama will tell you he's an absolutely incredible actor.

Sagal is great in SOA especially in Season 2 imo I do hope she is nominated for a Emmy for her work in the show

I would pick Jensen Ackles he is superb in Supernatural and also the main cast of the tv show FNL

I would agree with Liz about the main cast of FNL.

Aye, in a way I think the denial of the fact (which I find hilarious) that TV has surpassed film is hurting people like Hall. He can act with his face as well without moving his lips. :pac:
I'm constantly harping on about Cranston, but I do think he's incredible. Fair enough he's had a long career but it's mostly been bit parts etc. I almost only watched Breaking Bad when it came out first to see if could ever come close to his brilliant performances in Malcolm in the Middle and he surpassed it. It may only be two characters but to play both so well is unbelievable. Off the top of my head I think he's had two Emmys for BB but no Golden Globes, so in that regard he's still underrated as far as I'm concerned. :pac:

I was going to suggest him too. I know he won the pinnacle of awards, the boards Best Actor award, but he's still underrated.

Hall and Cranston are great actors there is no doubt about that but they are always on Emmy and Golden Globe and SAG best actors drama lists so I think they are hardly underrated

I like to mention a few who I think are terribly underrated imo

Lee Tergensen (he was in Oz, Wanted and Generation Kill)

Reed Diamond (he was of Homicide: Life on the Street and Journeyman)

Michelle Forbes (she was True Blood and Homicide: Life on the Street)

Callie Thorne (she was in Rescue Me and Prison Break)

Timothy Olyphant (he was Deadwood, Damages and Justified)

Walton Goggins (he was The Shield and Justified)

Tergensen and Olyphant have gotten their fair share of acclaim.. maybe not "awards-wise" but certainly are acknowledged often enough as credible talented actors.

Matthew Fox I always thought did great work (and was quite often unfairly criticised, but especially his work in late season 6 was top-notch), but Evangeline Lilly.. seriously?!

Matthew "Dull" Fox, character helps. Lost was ruined by his character the most boring and uninteresting of anyone in lost.

On the other hand Evangeline Lilly's character had initially some great storylines but - like an awful lot that when on in Lost - she was completely forgotten by the writers.

We will have to wait and see what happens their careers I am thinking that MF won't be around (Vantage Point  ) and I might be inclined to say the same for Evangeline.

But perhaps both are really underrated.

Titus Welliver - This guy is great in any show he is in, he deserves a lead role imo

I always thought Carlos Bernard (Tony in 24) was a very underrated actor, esepcially for him performance in the shows 7th season.

Most of the actors mentioned on this thread are cast members/recurring cast members, spare a thought for the guest star. There were a number of actors who appeared in just about every thriller/adventure/sci-fi show from the 70's to the 2000's who get little acclaim but always do a good job and occassionaly steal the scene.

    People like Charles Napier http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0621008/

    Lance LeGault http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0499223/

    John Quade http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0702723/

and there are many more like them who are the definition of jobbing actors.

After watching the latest Burn Notice, I have to say Garret Dillahunt (he plays Simon Escher). He was also Cromartie/John Henry in Terminator TSCC.

Alia Shawkat (Maeby) from Arrested Development was one of my favourite characters on a show full of fantastic ones. I haven't seen anything of her since though, which is a shame.

    Donald Glover

Elmo we all know you secretly think it's any 1 of these and that you are just too shy to admit it

    big-bang-theory-cast.jpg

Personally I think Anna Torv is a good actress, but that could be that I'm on a bit of a Fringe binge at the moment

She was in 'Whip It' (Drew Barrymore's directorial debut with Ellen Page), but she wasn't that impressive in it.

Agreed about Garett Dilahunt and Donald Glover - both are excellent!
