    Hi,

    Am looking for suggestions please!

Myself and the brothers usually head away for a long weekend every Jan to some European city. Couple of days enjoying the local hostelries plus take in a football game.

We've done Madrid and Lisbon so far. Barcelona, London, Manchester are out as we've all been before.

So am looking for suggestions on where would be good to head next. We are thinking Munich or Milan, but would like to get some opinions.

Only stipulation is that you must be able to fly direct from Ireland.

    Cheers.

Munich, Porto, Amsterdam, Lyon (not sure about direct flights for some these though).

Maybe Switzerland, Austria or Norway too.

Depends on how important the quality of football is to you.

haven't been to munich (yet) so can't comment but would recommend milan no question. good spot for a few days, we went to the ac/roma game last year, the crowd wasn't the biggest (might be a shock having been to barca, madrid etc where crowds are always large)

another place i would recommend is istanbul, you have 3 major clubs to choose from, besiktas' ground is only a short walk from the main square in the city centre. i know you guys are looking for somewhere direct from ireland, not sure if thats possible, we flew from luton to istanbul with easyjet, you can get over to luton was next to nothing these days

athens is a fantastic city, though i haven't been to a football match there
