I had a similar problem after returning to Ireland after living in France for 5 years. I couldn't understand why people were driving on the wrong side of the road until I gave my helpful garda room mate a lift to the shop about 3 weeks after returning!

    Zut Alors!!!! Silly me! :o

Technically, people who can't drive are dead and those that can, but don't, undead.

...and then there are the ones only dead from the neck up.

An example of a driver who incites road rage.

I find people to be far ballsier when they're behind the wheel. Usually the type of person who wouldn't say boo to a goose but then gets in their car and goes around beeping and being very aggressive. I once seen a woman honking her horn very enthusiastically at some kids who were writing graffiti on a lamp post. Once she parked her car she had to walk past the kids to get into the shopping center, they were still writing on the pole but she didn't stop or even look in their direction.

I think I'm the opposite, When I'm walking around the street, I'm very protective of my personal space and I get frustrated when people walking three-deep towards me expect me to step onto the road. I would rather do a bittersweet symphony style shoulder bump.

But when I'm in my car I'm very nervy, I'll let aggressive people do what they like and I'll only honk my horn if I really need to.

I think the way someone drives tells you a lot about their ego.

    I don't think so.

My brother has quite a calm temperament (despite the red hair :p) but he loves speed and doesn't tend to realise that he is actually driving quite fast. (Thank God he doesn't have a licence yet, so he hasn't driven on a proper road :o)
On the other hand, I'm a really nervous driver - I get anxious when I see other cars or pedestrians or cyclists; when I'm approaching roundabouts and junctions; if I feel like I'm going too fast... Actually most of the time. And I guess in real life I'm a bit of a worrier, but definitely not in the same way! I really wouldn't associate the way I drive with my personality or the way I live my life.

I'm sure the a-holes that hog the passing lane on dual carriageways/motorways are the exact same kind of people that stop for a chat in the entrance to a shop and look at you skew-eyed when you want to pass through .

Ignorance seems to be bliss but I would not trade in my brain for it any day.

For some sitting behind the wheel is a licence to alter the ego.

If people drive the same way they live their lives, does that mean that women live their lives in 5th gear?

My OH, Landette is good at driving me round the bend, but no good at driving car round bends.
She knows how to get her way in a round a bout way but she looses her way on round a bouts.
