Growing a beard for the past month. I love the thing but its like a marmite beard. Its half white and half black like straight down my chin it looks deadly but the amount of people that just stare at it when there talking to me is annoying but i love the thing and its staying till i have to shave it.

If you build it they will come. :pac:

Somebody needs to start the beard (or hat) threads or else there will be no discussion of that. I have a beard on and off and love experimenting with different styles. Currently thinking of what to do next. My last one comprised of large muttonchops with a short moustache joining them.

yeah im going to be sporting chops and a tash at rockwerchter on thursday, have had it before, but i like having a proper long beard too

I am currently regrowing after a short beardless phase.

I am thinking about going for a charlie chaplin-esque short 'tache, however this may be misconstrued by the public at large!

After spending about 9 months beardless, and am just growing my chin beard back. How I missed it! :D

I have had a beard for over 15 years. I will never be so foolish as to shave it.

I had to be clean shaven for my charity moustache Movember efforts, but kept it off for about 6/7 months after last Movember. What a fool I was!
If/when I do Movember this year, it'll be growing back immediately after!!!

I offered to shave mine for charity once. I ended up getting more money not to. I think it was a sign.

Am currently growing full beard but it's itchy as hell. Havent shaved for a week now. When can I expect the itchiness to ease off?
    Thanks.

Generally shave once every two months or so then just trim my beard to the length I like most a sort of chinstrap thingy-still can't grow any sort of a moustache though

I freakin love a beard on a man , but i hate mustaches, smigs , halfsmigs etc etc , if you are growing hair men, please just grow a proper beard - it's so sexy

I'd be surprised if the itchiness hasn't already passed. :P A tip I would give is to not overwash it when it comes out, if I use shampoo regularly I end up getting dandruff. Yes, really. :P Never had it on my head but sometimes on the beard, but if I just give it a good rinsing with water daily it stays clearer, think the shampoo clears away too many oils and dries it out like ****.
Been about a month since I shaved, makes me look in my 30s rather than my 21 years.

Rocking the neatly trimmed chinstrap and soulpatch combo for the guts of the seven or eight years at this stage.

Clean, low maintenance, just the right amount of hair for it to qualify as a beard but neat and manicured enough that you might as well be clean shaven.

Ive had this strange want to grow a beard recently so i stopped shaving nearly 2 weeks ago. Its going quite well so far, although its nowhere near being a decent looking yoke.

Ive noticed 2 things. My growth is significantly stronger in & around the chin & upper lip area. Is that normal?
Also getting a little irritation around the upper lip area where hair-ends are prickly/itchy. Should i trim this location or apply some sort of lotion?

Dumb question time; how long does it take to grow a good sturdy beard? Im 30.

That's how it is for me, since I was 16 I could grow a decent moustache and same with my chin

You could either trim it back, or leave it grow enough so that the annoying ends are longer and dont poke your lip and can be brushed sorta to the side.

Really depends on the person, I know people who at 40 couldnt grow a beard at all, and know people who'd have a sturdy beard in a week, so if it's been 2 weeks and you're doing rather well you'll have a nice solid beard after maybe 6weeks

This does however lead to all sorts of "Got milk?" shenanigans when drinking anything with a head. Be prepared to wipe a lot of foam from your moustache.

For a while last year my tache was getting in my mouth when eating, that was unnecessary. Love my beard can't really imagine going back to smooth shaven for any length of time, even though I quite enjoy a good shave.
Also this will piss off a lot of people but I've come to the conclusion that goatees just aren't right.

Ive had what I would call a handlebar but I think the official name is a Fu Manchu, the hulk hogan style one anyways. The only problem I have is that the hair just below the lip on the left side has decided not to grow so I need to grow the tache from the left side longer and trim the right side. Well worth it in the end.

well i havent shaved in about 5-6 weeks now, i do trim the mustache back fairly short tho as i hate that bit long, but i love my beard, im in an experimental phase, always wanted to grow a beard to see what its like on me and if i liked it which i do.
only problem is i get the odd jive in work and joke thrown at me, also my own parents keep throwing hints to shave.

I haven't shaved in over 2 months & ive developed a reasonable beard. Ive got very mixed reactions from people i know. Quite a few negative remarks unfortunately. Pretty much every day i consider having an almighty shave.:(

But then i think about how long its taken me to get to the stage its at now & i chicken out.:D

I shaved mine off again during the week. It's just funny at this stage... it really confuses people as I keep growing a beard and then shaving it off. What can I say... I get bored! :pac:
