    Hi Folks,

Recently got engaged and the 2 of us are 50 50 on the idea of doing the traditional irish wedding or heading off someplace like Portugal and doing the perfect summer weather wedding.
Has anyone gone down the potugal route or been at a mates wedding? What were yer experiences? Is it worth the extra workload or what do ye all think?

    Looking forward to yer replies.

We got married in Portugal. It wasn't any extra workload really. Just some things off the top of my head
    - it wasn't any cheaper than Ireland
    - the Portuguese are laid back! Don't expect everything you agree to get done. There was no bargaining the way there would be in ireland
    - the food was fab
    - we could get ceremony on the beach (or main reason for going there)
    - not everyone will travel but the most important people will.

If I were to do it again I still think I would get married abroad but not in Portugal.

got married in Cyprus 10 years ago and it was brilliant. We went in may cos we didn't want to be all dressed up in the height of the summer. It felt like a 2 week holiday with a wedding as an added bonus. The morning of the wedding my husband and his mates went go-karting.
My sister's a travel agent and she arranged it all so no hassle for us :D
