    Howdy folks,

Heres the story, third test is on Tuesday, lets hope its third time lucky!! Had a lesson today with no major problems, just a few things like obs and that bleeding reverse around that shaggin corner (Still can see the point in it, but sin sceal eile.) I am an ok driver wouldnt say I am the Stig or anything but not a beginner beginner.

Was wondering if anybody had any tips that has help them suceed in the test or helped them improve for the test? I really want to pass it this time as its getting expensive and I am not in the mood to fork out another €75 yo-yos to the RSA.

    Thanks in advance!

Just remember not to over-compensate. I drove too fast on my first test and got marks off for speed, then drove too slowly on my second and failed based on lack of progress.

Now imho both those examiners were braindead but you have to work around them in order to get your bit of pink paper! Drive at a leisurely pace but within the limit and while taking plenty of care, don't faff about either. Try not to act dissapointed or upset or nervous if you get something wrong first go, just get straight back on the horse - you're not expected to be the stig.

I did my test on Thursday and passed it with a lot of luck :) I was crap at reversing around the corner but got a great instructor and he thought me how to do it. Go as slow as you need to when you're reversing, observation- looking over your left shoulder as you're going around and your right blind spot. Just before you make that turn, stop and look over your right shoulder blind spot, when it's safe to do so make a quarter turn- i.e. your steering wheel should be in the proper position, not turning has been made so say it's at six o'clock, turn it around anti clockwise to nine o'clock when you can't see the corner anymore and reverse, again observation- looking over your left shoulder. Reverse at a slow speed- If you feel like you're still far away from the kerb continue moving your wheel slowly and when you start to see the corner again, judging how close you are to the kerb move your wheel back clockwise to six o'clock and reverse. Key thing is observation, keep looking over your left shoulder and right should blind spot, and take your time and remember if any cars come along stop your reversing.

Hope that helps and good luck :)

Don't worry - position faults can easily be remedied. You'll be fine for next time! I'd probably recommend taking at least one more lesson before your next test - the ADI should be able to sort out all your position faults!

Yeah I am thinking of getting a different ADI to look at my driving, you what they say a new set of eyes can work wonders!:D Just waiting on that cancellation to come through!

If I fail this time which I hope I wont, then its back to Dublin Bus for me!:P
