I've used them many times and never had any issues with them. Delivery was always prompt too.

Some here don't like them but I suppose it comes down to each individuals experiences?

Thats a fine netbook anyway. My sister has one and it gombines excellent build quality with excellent battery life. Probably not worth 280£ but this could be a good deal if you need the satnav as well

Having procrastinated over this for a fortnight, I took the plunge last night and put in an order.
I'll post any developments as they arise.

I previously dealt a lot with SVP (before their disastrous merger) so was accustomed to good service.
Based upon my SVP experience, so far I am disappointed with this firm.
Having submitted the Order on Monday evening, I promptly received a reply stating I'd be contacted when my Order is ready for Despatch.
A few minutes later I received another email stating there was an issue with my payment method but they'd rectify it with my bank and would contact me again if necessary.
    Since then, nothing.
I've been tracking the Order status regularly but it just states they "are still waiting for stock to complete (the) Order".
Yet, every time I check their website, it claims to have the items in stock.
I emailed them yesterday morning courteously pointing out the contradiction and requested a reply but none has been forthcoming.
This firm offers a 24 hour delivery in the UK so i'd expect them to be able to reply to emails within the same timeframe.
I'll keep this thread updated on any progress, or lack of.

You could try emailing CustomerService@buyitdirect.co.uk , Buyitdirect is the parent company, I had a quick response from them when I needed it and issue was sorted out quickly.

Laptops Direct? One uneventful dealing with them 4 years ago then nothing but disasters since. Wouldn't touch them again.

As long as laptop works ok out of the box and you never have to deal with them again you should be ok . If theres a problem... Well, good luck with it and I hope you don't have any bother.

My payment method was my visa card.
They impose a handling charge for credit cards but not for maestro cards, as long as the maestro isn't laser.
I believe all maestro cards in the Republic are laser so no way around the handling charge.
At least its only a small charge so thats not too bad.

Apologies for the delay in updating.
I've failed to get around to some tasks lately and this is one of them.
    Apologies again.

Anyway, on the Friday afternoon I received a response to the first email i'd sent them to them.
It contained an apology for the delay & stated that the items were to be despatched that day for delivery on the following Tuesday.
    They arrived as promised.

The netbook screen proved to be too small for my needs (no fault of the seller's) so my adult Daughter took it off my hands and she's satisfied with it.
However, if she wants to increase the RAM she can't just add another stick to the existing one.
Instead she must remove the existing one & replace with a bigger version.
This will prove costlier than adding to the existing.

I haven't even gotten around to switching on the Sat Nav.

When submitting my order, I also ordered a bag for the netbook, one for my media player and another for a tiny in-car dvd player and i was pleasantly surprised at the quality of two of them.
The third wasn't padded at all so not suitable for its intended purpose.

All in all, i got what i paid for so no complaints in that department.
Regarding communication, it could have been better on their part.
Would i buy from them again?
    Yes.
