While I'm sure most people who wander these dusty halls also frequent the games forum in the off chance you've missed the sale thread for steam since there's a number of RPG's going dirt cheap. I'd humbly suggest you take a look at Mount & Blade:Warband, The Witcher and perhaps Gothic 3.

And just in case anyone doesn't realise, for MB Warband there's a burgeoning mod scene located at taleworlds.com forums.
Really expands the game enourmously.
