Non - paying tenant ... rights?

    Hi everyone,

I was wondering if I could suggest a scenario relating to a non - paying tenant. Let's say a scenario where a brother and sister inherit a property. Let's also say that the father did not leave a will.

If it then transpired that the father had taken in a tenant 18 months prior to his passing on a non - paying basis (for the kinship, basically) might the siblings have to wait and give this person notice ... as in would that person who lived with the owner of the house prior to death have rights to stay for a set period, thus preventing a sale of the property for some time?

    Thanks,

    Tony.
