    is there to stop e-mails notifying you to a reply to a thread you have posted in?

    Indeed there is. Go to
    the top menu select Boards.ie = user setting = user control Panel
    From the left hand menu select subscribed threads
    Select the thread you want to unsubscribe from tick the box to the extream right, then scroll to the bottom of the page select Delete Subscription from the thread menu.

    That should do it for you.

    There are also 2 links for unsubscription in the email notification you recieve. 1 link is to unsubscribe from that particular thread, the other is to unsub from every thread you're currently subscribed with.

    Also, in user CP there is an option to disable email notifications by default.
