Ok to start, I'm wondering if anyone would like to share their experiences.
For me it was back in the early 90's, was watching a lunar eclipse(i think it was a total) and saw a streak of flame landing into the back garden. went looking(and did a bit of digging around the scorched hole i found) the following day and found a peice of pitted metal, its still lying around some where I'll post photos if i can find it.
The other experience I've had is more recent. Was on a night nav in the Galtees about 2 years ago, tabbing up Crow hillwhen it seemed like the whole sky lit up over my shoulder. Now every student on this nav ex had been given a paraflare to use in case they were seriously injured. The whole sky has been lit up and the first thing I'm thinking is whose injured, then I notice that the "flare" is not falling like a normal flare, its actually travelling almost horizontally. then it sems to break up into three parts but I dont remember any sound. What I do remember is standing there on the side of the hill and thinking COOL!! OMFG!!! THAT WAS COOL!!!!
    Sorry for the overlong waffle.
Has anyone experienced anything like this?
