Ok, this seems stupid, and i know it is but.. Ive just finished my Leaving, starting job next week, never been employed before...

Could some one simply explain to me what percentage emergency tax I will have to pay, and will I be able to get all my tax back at the end of the summer? Will I have to pay PAYE ?

I Haven't got a clue and no-one in my family can explain it without going mad at me....:o

    Hi,
When an employer does not get a P45 or a cert of tax credit and standard rate cut off they have to apply emergency tax.

Weeks 1-4 you are taxed at 20% with a tax credit of €35.2,
Weeks 5-8 you are taxed at 20% with no credit.,
After that you are taxed at 41%.

If you get your employers Registration Number and ring the PAYE section of the local tax office and ask them to allocate all your credits and standard rate cut off to that employment that will sort it.

You are entitled to the PAYE Credit and Single persons credit 3,660 So you will not pay tax on income of €18,300 when you get your credits sorted. Any emergency tax will be refunded.
