Hey, is anybody here a member of either of these sports clubs?? I want to take them up as a beginner, I've played badminton before in school and thoroughly enjoyed it!
Is the club beginner friendly? Whats training like??
Fencing is more of a notion. I've never done anything like it, bar a couple of duels with sticks as a kid:rolleyes:! I know it must be demanding, and I'm not fit at all, but I want to get fit and fencing seems like an enjoyable sport! My reflexes are awful too, but I'm sure with practise they'd improve!

I don't know anything about either of those clubs specifically, but any clubs I've been involved with are more than welcoming to beginners. There's plenty of info on the badminton page here.

With either one, I'd say your best bet is just to send them an email and ask. They'll definitely be happy to hear from you! :)

Hey Tara. It's not badminton, but you're welcome to join the tennis club. The more the merrier!

    Not at all, haha!

We just play a few games and a few skills sessions and stuff. Nothing mental or anything. Half the people wouldn't come if it was serious!

I have enver went to a club/society that was not begginer friendly. So im presuming the badminton and Fencing would be the same. During Clubs day(first 2-3 weeks of first semester and also on the second semster) all of the clubs will be in the king fisher. This will be a good palce to sign up to get emails and text messages from the clubs to see what they do, and also have any questions regarding begginer courses to a committee member.

regards to tennis, I know few of the people that attend do try and take it seriouse for the most part, the committee try and gather some good players and do other sessions and also enter tournamnets. I know that thye have a regular night on a sunday were anyone can join that dosent take it seriously and just want to meet some new friends.

I was in the badminton club for a while. It certainly is very friendly and anyone is welcome from any level. There's training 2 nights a week, one night with a coach. You can just go down for a laugh or if you feel like it, there's always competitions on. The guys that run it organise teams to play other local galway teams in a league and there's many a day tournament as well.

Its great fun, I recommend it! I'd hope to get back into it again next semester.
