I have an 11 year old son who is keen to get into archery. He has had a taste of it an a school tour and really enjoyed himself.
Is there is anybody in the area who we could have a chat with (and maybe let him have a few shots??, if thats the right word ).
I don't really want to get him a bow and let him work away on his own as I think it would be better to talk to someone involved in the sport first.

I contacted the club in UL but they wont accept anyone under 18.
By the way we live in Crecora, near Patrickswell.

    Thanks in advance,
    John.

You're right not to let him work away without coaching and help. Unfortunately I can't find any clubs in your area. Take a look here for a list of clubs in Ireland. Maybe some of them are reachable once a week?

I think there is a field archery club knocking about limerick somewhere. They are IFAF and not IAAA (FITA) so may not be on the archery.ie website. I'll have a look about and report back. :)

I think the website looks un-updated but the contacts should still be good. If you have any difficulties contacting let me know.

Thanks Panserborn, I just had a look at the website and they will let kids 8 and up join the club, so looks very promising.
