Dry Cracked Fingers?

    Hey,

I'm noticing lately that my index finger on my right hand gets very dry and cracked after a round of golf or practice.
The cracks then get dirty from the golf grips (despite them being newsish and cleaned often) and look kinda manky.

Ive started using some tape on this finger and it certainly helps, just wondering does anyone else "suffer" from this?

    Hi Greebo.

I get that occasionally after a round, about 50% of the time. That goes up to about 80% of the time after a trip to the range.

My clubs are also quite new, but still the mark on my finger looks really dirty. I haven't used tape like yourself, just tend to wash and use moisturiser afterwards. Hardly a proactive fix though, might try tape next time.

Not helpful, but at least you're not alone!

Greebo I also used to suffer with cracked hands from too much golf and developed nasty cracks in my right index finger and inside of my thumb. Ive been using soft Winn grips for a long time and I feel they are not as coarse as say tour velvets or velvet cord grips by Golf Pride. They also work real good when it rains. Might be worth a try on one of your clubs to try, nothing to loose.

    Great spot for value:

Just my 2 cents but dont be to hasty to blame the grips......I get dry / cracked finger tips after golf....usually when I play
a few rounds in close succession........In my case it's the soil.....ie wiping / cleaning the ball with bare finger as opposed to towel.......

I also get this when doing a spot of gardening etc and if untreated ofte end up cracking and bleeding....most unpleasant and painful.....plenty of cream is the answer.....

    Just my 2 cents.

Thanks all, I dont think its specifically the grips, as I also get a similiar result when doing a lot of DIY (which I do a lot of!)

I tried using hand creams etc for a while, but didnt seem to do much good. Going to start using the tape all the time and back to the cream...will see!
