    http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/breaking/2010/0625/breaking10.html

A California couple faces child endangerment charges after police say they tried to sell their six-month-old baby for US $25 (€20) outside a Walmart store.

Salinas police spokesman, Lalo Villegas, said Patrick Fousek and Samantha Tomasini were arrested on Wednesday morning, hours after Mr Fousek allegedly approached two women outside Walmart and asked if they?d like to purchase his child.

The women initially thought Fousek was joking, but when he became persistent, they became suspicious and reported it to police.

Mr Fousek and Ms Tomasini were arrested at their home. Officers said the couple appeared high on methamphetamine and the house was in disarray.

In all fairness, 25 dollars is a good deal for a kid.. But I'd like to think I'd be worth more than that.
Methheads really are the worst druggies.. Good thing it's not big here yet.

You'd be worth more than €30, but you are only using two nappies a day now, so the overheads are lower.

Yes, $25 was much too low, and they should have put the kid on Ebay.

Bit baffled as to what's going on there.

Is this because Dev said he thought you're a re-reg?

    Interesting all the same.

    Sure, buy a baby.
That way you even miss out on the only time you have fun from a kid.

I can get you some kids on the cheap, all shapes and sizes. Make for great pets.

One of the many questions I do get asked by customers is:

    "Does he come in black?"

Anyone see the Louis Theroux documentary The City Addicted To Crystal Meth?

    Terrifying, devastating substance... :(

Not excusing this couple's behaviour, but there is no limit to the level of fukd up sh1t it drives even good people to do, so I'm not surprised...

Well happy ending to this story.

After their new cellmates heard about it, Mr. Dad was welcomed in hand over fist, and he will now spend the rest of his time in the jailhouse awaiting sentencing in an isolated cell where he will have the pleasure of nursing a busted face, bruises, and several cracked ribs.
The couple made their first court appearance Friday. Fousek’s injuries were clearly visible – he had stiches in his lip and he could barely open his right eye because it was so swollen.

I saw a documentary on crystal meth , don't know if it was the same one, took place in LA I think? He was talking to "functional" users, went to a needle exchange etc? Same one? Its a very scary substance. . .

Cutting people because they can't have kids does seem really harsh. On the other hand if it is Jehovah's will than who are we to argue?

I'm normally pretty liberal and open minded when it comes to recreational drugs but from everything I've read and seen about crystal meth it seems to be a really evil, nasty and destructive drug.

It's sad to see people reduced to trying to sell their own baby for a paltry amount of bucks that would probably only buy them their next hit of meth.:(

Hey if it feels good do it right? That's what the headshop supporters say.

Methamphetamine is incredibly rare in Ireland thanks to the ready supply of cocaine and regular amphetamine in this country. We are actually quite lucky in this regard.

Methamphetamine started off in the states because of high demand for drugs in isolated rural communities. It's actually much more expensive to synthesise than regular amphetamine, it just happens to be a hell of a lot easier.
Not only is it more addictive than cocaine/regular amphetamine (because it is typically smoked rather than snorted), it is also quite neurotoxic and slowly but irreversibly destroys the cells it activates, leading to a decreased ability to feel motivation, which can often drive users to continue taking the drug to alleviate the lack of natural euphoria their drug has caused (a vicious cycle).

The worst part is with all the bull**** anti-drugs propaganda, many users used to dismiss the side-effects of meth use as more of the above mentioned bull****. I can only hope that the availability of unbiased, accurate information on the internet is helping to rectify this problem.

Crystal meth is 100% a product of the war on drugs. Without the war on drugs, people in places like the states wouldn't be using it today. Just like we don't use it here.
